Merry Late Christmas!!!

This week was such a good one!!! The members were amazing and they made me feel at home. It was so nice to go the Kinkade's home and to be able to wear a short sleeve shirt and not freeze outside. At their home we ate dinner, had a fire, and opened some presents. :) It was so much fun and the coolest thing was at the end they turned a little bit of time over to the missionaries to share a spiritual thought. So the tradition that was set in my life was that we read Luke 2. As I was reading it, I could almost hear my Grandpa Bunch reading it as he has done all my life on Christmas Eve!

Then Christmas day was so fun I got to talk with my family. It was the best! It is crazy to see how much they have changed over the last 5 months!!! But everything else was way good. I hope ya'll had a Merry Christmas and I wish you a happy new year. :)

The Fed Ex guy........Go with UPS!

So training is a lot harder than it seems. You have to protect your greenie and also help them learn and grow on their own. Sadly this week we were talking with a black investigator and a fed ex truck pulled up haha. This guy was crazy. His religion is Black Hebrew Israelite. They believe that Jesus was black and that he only came to save the black people. So right in front of our investigator he started telling him that we place white people over blacks, that our church is false and that Jesus is black. I was calm, but inside I was so mad haha. After a few minutes, I finally just said, "Shouldn't you be delivering packages? Because that's what Fed Ex is paying you to do." He left upset.

Anyways besides that, the weather has been really strange. It was 80 degrees on Saturday and then on Sunday it dropped down to 30 degrees. I think that I liked the warm weather a lot better!!

I have good news. We inherited a golden investigator who has a date on January 8th to be baptized. I am super excited to be able to finish off the lessons for him and witness his baptism!!! This week has been pretty good. I hope ya'll have a fine and safe Christmas! :)

Wow, I am going to be a Father!!

This week we have transfers and I am going to be training. So in mission lingo we call the trainer the father and The trainee the son. I am staying in Ridgeland and I am going to be companions with a brand new missionary! How crazy is that? I have only been out for 4 months and I am going to be training someone. They say the trainer either makes or breaks the mission for the missionary, so hopefully I will make the mission for him and help him become a good missionary!! I am so excited to be able to do this.

This week has been so much fun. We went to Monroe for a zone conference and Elder Arnold, an area seventy was there. We learned so much from him and he brought such an amazing spirit with him.

Also this week we were on bikes and that was not a lot of fun, but we took Christmas pictures which was fun! Sorry I don't have a whole lot of time but I hope ya'll have a great week and I will tell you more next week about my new companion!

Straight Rain!!

This weekend it has rained non-stop and it has been so cold!! But we still went out and worked. We figured out that our cheap brick phone is nice to knock doors with as when it is cold it hurts your hands a little, so it is really funny to knock on peoples doors with our phones haha. This week we have found an apartment complex and it seems to be a gold mine with people who are willing to hear our message so that has been so much fun!! The past two weeks we really have focused on finding people to teach. We currently have 11 people who are committed to being baptized in January, so hopefully we can prepare them for that in this upcoming month. Teaching is honestly the best thing about the mission. Besides that, nothing very interesting happened this week. I miss ya'll and hope ya'll have a good week!

A Non-Traditional Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving for me was not traditional at all. We ate at a members home and they are Arabic. They are originally from Jordan Jerusalem. So the food was not like a normal Thanksgiving but it was so good. We had Turkey and that's probably the only thing I recognized! I enjoyed everything and it was way fun as the family is very loving. I also got to watch some football as the TV was right in front of me and I couldn't help myself haha.

This week I also got to play in a turkey bowl. That was so much fun and makes me miss playing football at home.

I am sad that I missed black Friday shopping but this week was still a lot of fun. We went and knocked doors for 8 hours this week and were really blessed by the Lord to have been lead to certain people. Those people are the ones we want and we were guided to them. We were very blessed. We met this guy and we taught him and he came to church with us on Sunday and he accepted a baptism date which is awesome. But besides that there wasn't a whole lot exciting happening. Hopefully we can continue to find success.

My spiritual thought this week pertains to the Atonement. The Atonement is here to help us change. So it doesn't matter what we are doing right now, as long we start to change today and to change for the better. He will help you in the process. I miss ya'll and hope that ya'll had a good Turkey Day!!

I am loving the Madison and Ridgeland area

This week for me has been way good! I am loving the Madison and Ridgeland area. The work is definitely a lot harder in this area, but I am having fun and we are working hard, so all is well. I have one funny story. This week we were out knocking doors and we saw this group of kids that were outside so we walked up and talked with them. And when I got close to them I could just smell the smoke on them and I could tell that they were all high. But we decided to talk with them anyway and it was so funny because you could just tell that they weren't totally there by the things they were saying. I am definitely grateful for the word of wisdom.

Anyway this week was a lot of fun, and a lot of work as we were preparing for our quit smoking work shop. So we were visiting members and getting them to invite their friends who smoke to it. But sadly the day came and no one showed up. BUT this member had a friend who had been praying for 3 years for the chance to quit smoking and when she was told about our work shop and the program she knew it was an answer to her prayers. We are still seeing the many blessing from putting forth the effort to find new people to go out and teach the gospel!!

The only bad thing about being in the South is that the cold down here is a lot different than back home, and I do not like the cold. I would rather have it be warm! It has been a joy being in my new area the members are so nice and since I have been here I have been fed every night!! It has been amazing and 2 of the dinners were steak dinners at a restaurant.

But the week has gone by way too fast as I have been enjoying my new area. The thing I learned more about this week is that God does answer prayers. They may be instantly or later on down the road - but he does answer prayers. Also it may not be in the way our minds expect but he works in His own time and in His own way. I miss ya'll and hope ya'll have a good week.

Transfers!!!

I am now serving in Ridgeland Mississippi. This week has been so much fun! The area that I am in reminds me so much of Logan and Utah. They say it is the area where people move to Mississippi who don't actually want to live in Mississippi. I think it is funny, but the area is so nice and I am actually in a ward.

My companion is awesome and we are having so much fun. He is from Las Vegas and his name is Elder Neilsen. We have been working way hard this week. We are doing a stop smoking workshop in efforts to find someone to teach. The stats say that 1 out of every 3 people who participate in this program are baptized so that will be amazing if we could find someone who is ready! We have been working a lot with the members too! We went into so many members homes this week and the nice thing about that, is that they fed us too. I was fed every night this week and one night we were even taken to a steak house!! It was so nice. I am loving this area so much. Anyways this week has been really good and I am loving it so much!! I hope you all have a great week.

The Lord must need me in a different area!!

I'm sorry that I haven't written in a while. I have just been so busy.

This week we moved apartments and the apartment that we moved into is really nice. I had my own bathroom and we even had a washer and dryer. Then this Sunday,I got a call saying that I was being transferred on Tuesday. I am so sad... I now have to repack all of my stuff and move!! However I am willing to go, and I am happy to move and get a new area and meet some new people. I just don't think that I will have a better district than I had this transfer. We have had so much fun together! I can't wait to hang out with a few of them at Utah State!

Besides that there hasn't been much going on because my companion has been having some treatments at the hospital that lasted 6 hours for 2 days and we also have been moving and cleaning. I am excited for a new area and being able to meet some new people, but I am sad to have to leave some people behind that I have grown so close to. It is crazy how much of a bond you can build with someone, especially a convert in 3 months. So that makes me sad to leave. I hope I have more to say next week and I'll definitely let you know about my new companion. I hope all is well.

Time is going to fly by

I miss being at home and seeing everyone, but It will seem like tomorrow that I will be home because time is flying!! I hit my 3 month mark on Thursday and before you know it, it will be my 6th month in January!! Time is going to fly by.

This week was slow, my companion has not been feeling well, so we didn't do a whole lot. On Friday we were at the doctor's office for about 3-and-half hours, and I got so bored!! I read 100 pages of Jesus the Christ. I have been reading a lot because we haven't been able to work much.

The other Elders in Laurel don't want me to get into a bad habit of staying in, so whenever we need to go somewhere, we call them and I go with one of them and the other stays with  my companion. This is good because they say if I get into a habit like that, that it will be hard the rest of my mission to go and work hard. So I am grateful for them. Anyway, this week was good, but like I said not a whole lot happened!! I miss you all.
