Time is going to fly by

I miss being at home and seeing everyone, but It will seem like tomorrow that I will be home because time is flying!! I hit my 3 month mark on Thursday and before you know it, it will be my 6th month in January!! Time is going to fly by.

This week was slow, my companion has not been feeling well, so we didn't do a whole lot. On Friday we were at the doctor's office for about 3-and-half hours, and I got so bored!! I read 100 pages of Jesus the Christ. I have been reading a lot because we haven't been able to work much.

The other Elders in Laurel don't want me to get into a bad habit of staying in, so whenever we need to go somewhere, we call them and I go with one of them and the other stays with  my companion. This is good because they say if I get into a habit like that, that it will be hard the rest of my mission to go and work hard. So I am grateful for them. Anyway, this week was good, but like I said not a whole lot happened!! I miss you all.

The Lord will provide

So the past few weeks, I had a spider bite and I thought nothing of it! And over time, the infection started to grow and grow until it took up most of my shin and a little bit of my knee. So that's when I figured I should probably seek some medical attention.

Guess what? A miracle happened!! I was at our recent convert's house and his sister was there and she is a nurse. So I showed her my leg and she ran home and brought me back some ointment. I have been putting it on my leg, and it is almost all the way better!! It's amazing how the Lord will provide for you when you serve him and do His work!! Because that kind lady did it all for free, and said she would even get me into her doctors office for free, I don't have to go to Instacare!! My leg is almost better, but I am continuing to heal my leg, and I bet by next week it will be all the way gone!!

This week I went on exchanges in Collins with this other elder. Ever since the last transfer they weren't able to teach anyone. They hadn't had a single lesson, but when we worked that area, we taught their first lesson and set up an appointment for the next day to teach another man. But besides that, not a whole lot happened this week. We are looking for new investigators, and continuing to teach the recent converts and help them stay active in the church! But I miss you all a lot and I hope all is well.

This week, I actually got a haircut by another missionary!! It was free and doesn't look that bad!! I actually like it short.

Baptism Number 3!!

This week has been a fun week!! I got to witness my 3rd investigator be baptized. It was such an amazing experience to see this young man named Larry Davis overcome some challenges such as smoking and be able to be baptized and receive the holy ghost!! Larry is such a good guy, but he has had little education. It is very difficult for him to read and for him to remember some things, but we worked very hard with him and taught him very simply and he was baptized this week!! Sadly the other lady had to go out of town for some health issues, and wasn't able to baptized this week. She was also offended by a member. So we are going to have to go and solve some problems, and help the investigator come back to church and continue on the road to baptism!

Anyways, besides that this week I made a few great purchases... First 4 of us Elders bought onesies!! They are DOPE!!! In the pictures you will be able to see a ninja turtle, woody, TED, and a minion. I am the ninja turtle! But the elder in the Ted costume, is Elder Tenifa! He is from West Valley and knew my man Steven Lutui! It is crazy how small of a world it is, but he is so cool! He reminds me of Hartman in the way he acts, so it is so fun to be around him! The second purchase I made was a rubix cube! I am able to solve it in less than 5 minutes. I am still working on it, and hopefully will be able to solve it in less than 30 seconds when I get back. But besides that, all is well.

Love Elder Corbett

P.S. I have had a spider bite on my leg for about 2 weeks now and the infection has been spreading. so the mission nurse says that I need to go get it checked out.

What a great week

This week we were pretty busy. To start off, Elder Brown and I tracted into a Jehovah's Witness lady. She was such a nice lady. She invited us in to get us out of the sun, because it was a hot day. Anyway, we were able to talk a little bit about our beliefs, and I had the idea to act like I was interested in her religion, and wanted to investigate it. So she gave me all sorts of papers and pamphlets. She also gave me one of their bibles. Then after that, I asked her if she has ever had been told why Mormons are called Mormons. Elder Brown then taught her, and at the end I asked her if she would be willing to accept a copy of the Book of Mormon. She did, and we were both shocked. The reason why we were shocked was because in the Jehovah's Witness religion they are not allowed to accept or read literature from any other religion. So hopefully she will read it and be baptized.

Besides that General Conference was amazing. I have come to realize that if you don't sleep through it and snap chat people, and actually pay attention, that you can actually get something out of conference. It is awesome to listen to all of the messages that were shared. Just remember not to take the gospel for granted. It is amazing to reflect out here, and see what a blessing it is, to have the gospel in my life. I definitely took it for granted back at home.

We have 2 baptisms coming up this Saturday, and I am so excited for them. I hope all is well for everyone. I love y'all.

Love,

Elder Corbett

P.S. I made Rice Krispies and took them to the church to share and give to the people who showed up to watch conference! Everyone loved them. I thought it was so funny because they weren't even that special, but they loved them.
