Uncle Si

This week we went and tracted into Uncle Si. It is actually a crazy story.  We knew the location of the house, but we were not sure which one it was. So we thought that we should just tract the area to see if we could find him. So we went to the first house and knocked, and a black lady opened the door. So we were like dang it's not him. But then we figured out that she was just the house keeper and we did knock on the right house. So we started talking with the lady but Si was asleep, so she got his wife and she just totally shot us down. I was so sad. We were so close, but yet so far.

Then later this week we had an return appointment with a guy that we met. Sadly he wasn't there, but his girlfriend was.  So we taught her and helped her. On Thursday we went to an investigator's home and helped pick up chicken eggs again. It was so much fun.  Then on Friday we did more service for a member. It felt like he just wanted free labor.  So Elder Maughan and I painted this man's room, and he didn't even help that much.... But it's all good. Then on Saturday we went on exchanges with the zone leaders and it was so much fun.  I went with Elder Ahanonu. We counted it out, and this is our 5th exchange together. So we teach pretty well together. Later that night I was back with Elder Maughan and one of our investigators called us at like 9:30 and asked us to come over and she seemed a little  different, like something was wrong.  So like good missionaries, we forgot the in by 9:30 rule and went and saw her. She has been going through a lot of crazy things.  So we gave her a blessing and got back around 10. But we were doing good, so we felt like it had been a good decision. Then on Sunday we went and saw a family we have been teaching and it was so funny. We started talking about this lady that has been staying with them. They told us that she is 25 and has 8 kids. I did the math and that puts her to be pregnant for about 72 months, which if you divide by 12 is 6 years of her life....so she had been pregnant for more than 1/5 of her life which is crazy. I hope y'all are doing well.

Monroe, Louisiana

This week has been a blast. My new companion Is Elder Maughan. He is such a great guy. He was in my last zone and we would always talk when we would gather together as a zone. I was so excited to see that I was his companion. I am also in the city of West Monroe. That is where Duck Dynasty actually lives, so it is our goal to hunt them down and knock on their door and hopefully make it onto their tv show.

So to start off, let me just say that we are on bikes, and we did a lot of bike riding this week. The first day we biked I was going so slow and I was wondering why because I can normally keep up with most people. I finally figured out that since I haven't ridden my bike for awhile, that my tires lacked air so I was driving on flat tires the whole time. So luckily the next day I pumped them up and it was a lot easier haha.

We also were able to find a few people because we were working so hard. We set a few people with a date and we are hoping that they will be able to make those dates. But the sucky part about my area is that there is a paper factory here, and when we are outside it makes the air smell like a poopy diapers. It is so gross.

Then on Friday, we went to help some of our investigators out and do some service. Their names are Marta and Jorge. They are hispanics that work on a chicken farm. So there job is to pick up the eggs that hatch. It is actually a pretty cool process. But it was an all day event, and they also fed us. It was actual mexican food, and it was pretty interesting, because I am used to American Mexican food. Then on Saturday, we were supposed to go over to their home to read the Book of Mormon, but the man who was supposed to pick us up wasn't able to. So Marta asked her neighbor if he would drive her to pick us up. So all four of us road in a single cab truck! It was funny. As we were talking with the driver, he said that he has been in some of the Duck Dynasty tv shows, and he was telling us about it. We drove past a road that Cy lives on, so Elder Maughan and I are going to be tracting that area and try to find him. That's pretty much it from me this week I hope y'all have a good week!!!

Sad to be leaving Ridgeland

My week was pretty sad. Especially due to the fact that I am going to be transferred. I can't believe that I have to pack up again and move to another area, and learn so many new names and faces. But I am excited. I have loved the Madison Ward, but I am ready to go to an area, where the work is moving forward. So I am looking forward to that!

Not a whole lot has happened this week though. Elder Olsen, and I decided since it would probably be our last time together we were going to go extra hard this week. So we tracted and tried our best to find some people for the next transfer. The sad part about it, was that no one would let us in, or hear our message. The cool thing is that we had a lot of people who told us to come back. So I won't see any of it, but I hope they don't flake out on the missionaries. One of our return appointments, we went to on Sunday. They both had the flu and we sadly thought it was an excuse because they forgot that we were coming by and so they wouldn't answer the door. But the lady told us that she and her husband were excited to hear our message and that we need to come back Tuesday. Sadly, I am going to be gone Tuesday to a new area. I am however, excited to see what the Lord has in store for me!!! I miss all of you and hope that you have a good week!:)

Pinewood derby and a confirmation

Good morning,

Nothing very important happened at the start of the week, but on Thursday we were able to go do service with female inmates. We made food boxes that are given out to people in the Jackson area. Then on Friday, we invited a family that we have been working with to the pinewood derby. We helped their 2 little kids build cars for the derby. It was so much fun to be able to do that. So after we helped them, I decided that I might as well enter a car in with my companion, and the 2 kids Aidan, and Nadia. Friday night I was able to buy a car and by Saturday morning I had finished painting it and put the wheels on. We had the Pinewood derby and it was really fun. The only sad thing was that, the kids cars didn't do very well, and the car that I just threw together took 4th overall haha. But we had fun together. I think they might come to church next week.

Then Saturday night, we were able to confirm Paul Irby. It had almost been 2 months since he was baptized!! We were so happy that we were able to do that! I can't believe how much he had been through and how much the Lord was so merciful upon him. His heart had stopped so many times while he was in a coma, and now he is out of the hospital and recovering. The spirit was so strong there. It was nice. So that is pretty much it for my week. I hope y'all have had a good week I miss everyone!!!
