I'm getting another son!

What's good in the hood y'all?

This week for me was an interesting one. The weather has been great so it has been nice for the work. On Tuesday we went up to Yazoo with a member and taught probably our most progressing investigator. We went up to see him intending to just read the Book Of Mormon with him, but things happened and the lesson changed. We still read the Book of Mormon but we were able to figure out some of his concerns and teach him and help him overcome them. I really think that he will be able to be baptized and he is really open to it. He just won't commit to a date yet. SO we still need to get past that, but he is making progression. He is the one that made the necklace I sent to my mom. He is a great guy.

Then later this week I went on an exchange with an elder that I didn't want to go with... but I suffered through it. It was alright but the best part was when I got to do another baptism interview with 2 kids that are 12 and 9. It was a cool experience but the kids were a little crazy.

We have really been trying to find people this week because Elder Conger and I knew that it was going to be our last week together, so we worked extra hard. So it has been fun. It is sad that we are going to be leaving each other. But it is going to be good for me.

The worst part of the week was on Sunday night when I got a call from President Olson and he told me that he wanted me to train again. That is the one thing that I did not want to do. I was telling everyone that, but I guess if you say you don't want to do something it's going to happen. So I will be getting a brand new kid on the morrow and I pray that he isn't weird. I am super nervous about that.

But today was a lot of fun. We went with one of the youth in the ward and we climbed a water tower! It was pretty fun but also pretty sketchy at the same time! But we got some cool pics!! I hope y;all have had a good week!

Football Season!

A few days ago I kind of got a chance to see what it might be like at a Logan High Football game - But first off let me share my week......

This week has been such a hot one. We walked a lot because I refuse to buy a bike until after the transfer. This is because I am hoping if I do get transferred, that I will go to an area that is full car. I think I have hit up most of the areas in the mission that have been a car share, meaning that you have the car one week, and the bikes another.

So on Wednesday we had district meeting all the way up in Greenwood which it is about a 2 hour trip, and it was such a boring drive. Especially when you can only listen to church music the whole time. I swear that Elder Conger was going to fall asleep because we were just bored out of our mind. But luckily we made it safely and it was a good time. Then we had to make the trek back, but luckily I was able to relieve him and drive a little bit.

Then on Thursday we went up to Jackson for an exchange with the zone leaders and that was such a great time! It was Elder Scoresby's birthday and I bought him a cake and ice cream because birthdays on the mission really aren't fun unless you have another missionary make it fun! So we made it fun. But before we had fun I went and worked with Elder Thorley. He is such a good guy. I wish that he and I could be companions! We taught two great lessons. The zone leaders took our Mission President to the lesson and the lady that they were teaching said that she felt like she knew me and Elder Thorley and Elder Scoresby from somewhere. It was really cool. They talked about how in the preexistence, that we promised that we would come share the gospel with her. It was amazing! Then after that is when we had fun for Elder Scoresby's birthday. We went to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner! Then after that we went back and had cake and ice cream, and played a few games. Then the next day we exchanged back!

So then on Saturday, we did another exchange with the elders in my district and I went with Elder Atkinson. We had so much fun. He is from Malad, Idaho. He knows the Horsley family so we talked a little about them but we also worked really hard on a hot and humid day. While we were knocking doors we came across a Muslim "official". I'm not sure what that is. He started talking and he was actually really nice and said that the Mormons are the ones that are keeping Christianity pure. Right then I had a lot of respect for him. Then he gave me a newspaper and that's when I lost all my respect for this man. I read a little part of it on the back about what they believed, and it was crazy. It talked a lot about how the black people were wronged with slavery and that they are God's chosen people. Also it talks about how they want to re-segregate schools and how they also want a separate country or territory of their own. That the white people who had their ancestors in slavery would have to provide for them. It was ridiculous. It is crazy what people will actually believe haha.

Also Earlier this week we tried giving this man a picture of Jesus and talk with him, but he wouldn't accept it because apparently Jesus wasn't white. We had a little debate and his argument was that Jesus was an Egyptian and that Egyptians aren't white. But I pointed out that they aren't black either haha. But then I also was telling him that Jesus wasn't an Egyptian but that he was a Jew. I swear some people aren't very smart haha. That guy was just trying to bash us and I wasn't going to put up with it because that night we got permission to go see a football game!!! I was so pumped and looking forward to it. It was so much fun but both teams were awful. I think for both teams they had more completed passes to the other team than they did to themselves. It was pretty bad. it felt like every play was run right up the middle when their o-lines couldn't block to save their lives. In my mind I was just wondering, is this what Logan High looks like? And I thought probably haha. The really cool thing that did happen at the game though was that before the national anthem this guy said a prayer over the speakers!! I am trying to talk with the member to be able to give that prayer at their next home game! I hope I get the chance.

I hope that y'all have had a good week.

Rain!!

What is up Y'all

This week was super rainy! It was actually pretty funny. This week we had to bike a bit because we have done so much driving. So we were biking past this school and my bike literally just fell apart. The chain broke and a piece to it went missing. Luckily we were next to a member's school. He was about to get out of school so we just ditched my bike and went to our appointment that ended up falling through. We then came back and threw my bike into the back of his truck and we took it home. Right as we got home it just started pouring. I think It might have rained over an inch in about 20 minutes. It was coming down so hard. We looked out front and we live kind of on a hill and it looked like the Logan river going down it. It was crazy.

So it was a blessing for my bike to break, because we were going to go far out into our area, but we would have had to come home because of the rain! So we spent all afternoon trying to fix my bike but no luck... I think it is a goner. But oh well, I prefer walking anyways, so it will all be good. Plus it was a Walmart bike.

Also during this week we had to make a 2 hour drive all the way up to Greenwood Mississippi, so I could interview this nice lady for baptism. It was such a boring drive just jammin' out to Motab, but luckily I drove one way and my comp drove the other. But the Interview was great. The lady did great and I felt that she was truly converted to the gospel. She was telling me all of the things that she had sacrificed to be able to be baptized. She quit smoking and even kicked out this guy that she had been living with. It was truly amazing.

We also had zone conference this week, and that was pretty fun. I got to see a lot of my mission friends and talk with them. Then yesterday we were teaching our black lady investigator. She cracks me up. She will talk your ear off, if you let her. After we got done with the lesson she started telling us that we need to marry inside our own race and that we shouldn't be chasing after all of these black girls but that we need to marry a white girl. I was laughing so hard. It was pretty funny. I hope y'all have a good week and enjoy the football that is starting up. I hope my boys out in Logan can step it up, and win more than 1 game this year!

Tracting Bingo and a lesson from a friend

Not a whole lot interesting has happened this week. I feel like missionary work is just like the same thing over and over again, with a new little twist to each day.

For district meeting I gave my district this sheet called tracting bingo because we have been struggling to find! So that has been very interesting, but also fun. This week Elder Conger and I got to mark off one of the bingo squares, because when we were tracting this guy, he started bashing us. At this point in my mission, I don't even try to bash back because they are so hard hearted, that whatever I say won't affect them. So I just sat there, and let him talk. It was funny because he had nothing to back up what he was saying and it was all wrong. He was talking about how the church doesn't need to be organized and that we just have church by talking about Christ. It was getting to the point that I was about to laugh.

Then later this week we saw Kenneth who was supposed to be baptized this last Saturday, but he got cold feet and backed out. He says that he doesn't need to be baptized again. So we are back to ground zero with him but I think that we can get him back on board. He continues to come to church and this week he even brought his mom to church! So we didn't have to find him a ride or anything so that was really nice.

Then later this week we were teaching one of our older black lady friends, and we taught her the introduction lesson to the Book of Mormon. She really enjoyed it. The funny thing about that, is during the lesson, a black guy down the street started peeing. She stopped us and started yelling at him and called him a "NIGGER" haha I just started laughing so hard because it was hilarious. She then proceeded to teach us when you can call a black person that and when you can't. haha It was really funny. But that is all for me this week I hope you have had a good week!!!
