Big news happened this week, so we had an emergency zone conference. The Mississippi Jackson Mission or in other terms, the MJM will no longer be a thing come July 1st 2018 💔. The missionary numbers have been decreasing. After the announcement about the change in missionary age, the numbers jumped up to 80,000 and now are down to 68,000. And due to the fact that the people in Africa and Brazil are more open to the gospel than the people in the South they will most likely be sending more missionaries to those countries and fewer to the states. It makes me sad to see that it will be merged into the Louisiana Baton Rouge mission. So our mission President talked about the group who would go home after this change in August might have the option of going home in June. So that they wouldn't have to deal with all of the crazy commotion for a month. I don't know what will happen, but I will let you know when I get more information.
Anyways this week has been another busy one. We had 2 exchanges and had to organize a emergency zone conference. Elder Dugmore and I have made the joke that we have barely seen each other this week, and we are companions. My first exchange was with Elder Conger. If you remember him, I finished his training in Clinton. We had a good exchange and worked hard. It is a lot of fun to be with someone that you have already served with. We got to talk about all of the good times that we used to have. So that was a highlight.
Then I got to go on an exchange with a struggling missionary. It was rough because his struggle is that he freezes up when he starts talking about the gospel. It makes me frustrated because he will talk my ear off about some things, like why he uses a certain pencil over any others. He will talk to me for more than 5 minutes, but when you ask him a basic question about the gospel he goes mute. We have been trying to work with him but he isn't making any progress. Right now we are at the point of not knowing how to best help him. Please pray for him.
Then another highlight of this week was that we met this sweet dude named Silas and his friend Chris. These guys are straight gangsters but they love us and they said they would die for us. It's great. We have been going to their house almost everyday reading the Book of Mormon with them and they are so cool. We are actually going to play Basketball with them today so I am hyped.
