So the first miracle that we had this week was when we were at basketball on Thursday night. We were playing and I lost, so my team had to sit out. And a guy on my team was sitting next to me and he started asking me all of these questions and I ended up teaching him the restoration lesson and gave him a Book of Mormon. I think I know why I couldn't make a shot during that game haha. Just kidding.
Then on Friday we had weekly planning and that is always boring. During it I figured out why missionaries are set apart from the world. So in the world most people hate Mondays and Love Fridays. Well Missionaries love Mondays and dread Fridays because the morning is full of planning. But after planning we went and tracted and literally we tracted for an hour and no one answered the door. I was getting super frustrated and wanted to leave but something inside me was telling me to be patient. Luckily I was patient, and we found this man outside and we were talking and then we taught him. It was actually super nice.
Then on Saturday we were about to go to a lesson but we decided to go tract for a bit and the second we got out of the car we started talking with this man, who was kind of interested... Wasn't way into it, but we challenged him to read and pray about the Book of Mormon. I think it is so funny down here. Everyone has such a strong faith in Christ and tells us that they pray twice a day and all of this good stuff. So I have figured that you gotta use that to your advantage and build them up and tell them that they are great at prayer and you get them to ask about the Book of Mormon. Sadly a lot of them don't have commitment.
Also on Saturday we went out with this returned missionary. We had planned out the lesson and we were going to be teaching Kenneth about the Priesthood and why we need it and who has it. At first as we started the lesson, I am not going to lie, it was pretty rough. Kenneth was against it and saying that he didn't need the priesthood and the spirit wasn't there at all. I was getting frustrated because I thought I was teaching him plainly and he wouldn't understand it all. Then I got this idea that we all need to get down on our knees and have Kenneth offer up a prayer and ask God if he needs it. Right before the prayer the member told him that we will wait about 10-15 seconds after in silence and that Kenneth could break the silence but I don't think he heard how long we should be in silence. After his prayer we literally knelt on the wooden floor for about 10 minutes and at the end he asked us if we were alright. BUT the great news is, that his heart was softened and the next words that came out of his mouth were "When can I get this Priesthood thing?" It was great. I was just smiling and full of joy. We then committed him to be baptized in August because we still have so much to teach him, but he is progressing. That's pretty much it for me.
I hope y'all are doing a okay. I also hope that you have a good week and that the Lord continues to bless you.
With Love Elder Corbett
